`Pathways for effective governance of the English Channel' publication highlights potential first steps in Channel management
Marine experts in the UK and France are calling for international coordination of management efforts in order to protect the Channel's marine ecosystem.

On October 11th, about 30 people (divers, sailors and environment managers) have participated to a one day meeting on two participative programs: the Fish Watch Forum (by the NGO Peau Bleue) which aims to observe coastal fishes and BioLit (by the NGO Planète Mer) to follow non-indigenous species within the context of the Panache project. The productive debates and discussions that followed most definitely proved how interested the participants were in these two initiatives.

The final PANACHE and VALMER conference has been an opportunity to discuss the tools developed and knowledge acquired within the framework of each project. These two and a half days spent sharing knowledge and know-how have brought to light several major prospects for the Channel region.

PEGASEAS is an INTERREG IVA France (Channel) - England capitalisation project aiming to promote the efficient governance of the Channel ecosystem. PEGASEAS seeks to identify common governance outcomes, outputs and lessons learnt from a suite of INTERREG IVA Channel Area Projects relevant to the effective governance of the Channel ecosystem: CAMIS, ChanneLIS, CHARM 3, CRESH, LiCCo, Marinexus, MERiFIC, OFELIA, PANACHE, SETARMS and VALMER. The objective of the compendium is to communicate the analysis undertaken by the PEGASEAS project to identify key lessons related to the improvement of sustainable marine governance of the Channel ecosystem. Those lessons were collected through the completion of a matrix, which led to the production of 13 reports.
